Fitting & Size Guide

Find Your Perfect Fit

As a general rule, the bottom width of your lampshade should roughly match the height of your lamp base. The height of the shade should be about two-thirds of the base height.

The Silhouette Directory

French Drum: A subtle, gentle sloped shape. Best for mid-sized table lamps, bedside tables, and cozy corners.

Candle Clip: Petite, mini accent shades with a built in mechanism that clips directly onto a candle bulb. Best for wall sconces, chandeliers and small decorative features.

Cylinder Drum: Straight, vertical equal width shade. Best for modern ceiling pendants or blocky, minimalist table bases.

Empire: Classic, dramatic slope. Casts a wide pool of light downwards. Best for pendants, skinny floor lamps and low, traditional table bases.

Vintage Scallop: One-off, pre-loved frames ranging from scalloped edges to rare geometric shapes. Best for independent design statements where no two pieces are identical.

Fittings and Fixings

Standard Duplex Fitting: The most common UK fitting. A duplex ring sits inside the top of the shade and rests on a shade carrier attached to the bulb holder.

Fixed Gimbal Fitting: A gimbal fitting attaches directly to the bulb holder without a shade carrier.

Reversible Gimbal Fitting: Allows the shade to be fixed from the top or the bottom, perfect to swop or choose between a pendant of lamp shade.

Pendant Fitting: For ceiling pendants, shades attach via a pendant ring or spider fitting.

Converter Rings: Are included where necessary.
